Built a sub box today

Hey guys, I just thought I would post up some pics of the lil box I built today

I had a cheap lil walmart box that a friend gave me a long time ago & it just sounded like crap & I think is part of the reason a blew up like 3 subs

So I went & bought what was supposed to be MDF, but I think was really LDF being sold as MDF (Pissed me off), then continued to cut it up & build a box

After blowing up my last sub (the one that came in the wally box, el cheapo) My mom bought me a sony one from wally world for my B-day till I can save up enough for a good one

So here are the pics

Sounds a lot better than the el crappy one from wally world

My only problem now is either my deck or my amp, I have to turn it up all the way for it to start hitting & even then it isnt real hard

I have a old sony deck that my brother gave me & a Rockford Fosgate Punch-30 amp, that I have bridged

It could be either the deck or the amp. I'd check the gains adjustment on the amp and turn it up if possible.

Good job on the box. Looks nice and sturdy.

Thanks guys

All the setting are correct on the amp & today I borrowed one from a buddy that is a lil bigger & it hits harder, but I still have to turn it all the way up, so Im assuming that its the deck

I have a nice Pioneer deck that I need to see if is fixable or just get a new one

Here are some pics of it painted (looks darker in person)

Is that the permanent position of the box? If so, I'm foreseeing some serious safety issues...

Too much polyfil. You need to have no more than 50% of the box filled with it also your box is probably bigger than needed. You only need about 1 cubic foot and maybe even less for that sub. A rule of thumb is .75 cubic ft. for a 10 inch sub. I am building a box for my truck that is for my Kicker CVR12 that when finished should be 1.25 cubic ft. no polyfill needed. The speaker should run down to 35 Hz safely in this enclosure. If you want you can PM me and send me the model of the sub and I can make some rough calculations to get it sounding better. Good Luck

Whats the output on the two amps u used? Wattage at what impedance? If the amps are way weaker than the 1100W sub, whihc i assume is at 4 ohms, then its not gonna kick that hard. Whenever im hookin up mine they tend to be not kicking, then i make sure i reset all my gains and filters, then normally they come a live. Reset all switches, knobs, whatever to original, then try and adjust it back. Sometimes theres just somethin that u missed....just my .02...
