65 short on a 92 short frame

2 Attachment(s)
I bought a 65 for my son a few years back. With the donation of a 92 short wide from one of my sons' friends, we are going to attempt placing the 65 on the 92 frame. Does anyone have knowledge of this swap and what i am getting in to? We have pulled body off of the 65 frame and the body is now sitting on the 92 frame. We have yet to attempt the attaching, yet. Thank for any info...

^ so is that it on the 92 frame now?
All I would say is retrieve the cab mounts from the old frame, bolt them back to the cab, and then weld them to your new frame.
attach/modify steering, clutch, brakes, and the frame horns for the bumper brackets, and you are ready to go.

I tried down loading the picture of it on the 92 frame, but I guess it was too big and would not take. The picture is still the 65 frame.

My brother in law did the same thing. He did similar what Jon says to do. You can resize the pictures in 'Paint' and try uploading them again.

I did basically what Jon said, but I didnt weld the body mounts.

I drilled the rivet holes and used Grade 8, 7/16" hardware.

You will have to measure the frame width to make sure they are the same.

I was curious about welding the mounts to the frame... probably better to rivet, or bolt them on... ?

Re: 65 short on a 92 short frame

The frame on the '92 is considerbly wider than the '65 frame, so just swapping the cab mounts is probably not a simple solution. I would suggest doing some detailed measuring of all your necessary mounts before getting too carried away. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but it may be a bit of work. Also if it is anything like putting a '60-'66 body on a '73-'87 frame, you'll end up with a 3 inch or so body lift when you're done.
