Using same upper and lower a arms
 

could I get spindles and disk breaks off late 70's to early 80's chevy truck and use them on my 68.And just change out the ball joints on the control arm to match the spindles?

You can use the control arms from the spindle donor trucks also.May want to get the rest of the steering linkage also.Tie rod ends will be different.

The simple answer is yes, you can install later model ball joints directly into your existing control arms to be able and use later model spindles and brakes. No mods required.

Like said above, be sure and grab the steering linkage from spindle to spindle too. It is different from the early model stuff.

After that, you just need a disc brake master cylinder and proportioning valve off a late model truck and hook up the lines.

Why not use the later model control arms as well? They use press in rubber bushings instead to help isolate and quiet suspension and are less expensive to replace when the time comes. I have arms and spindles from an 82 on my 69. A bolt on.
