Freakin gas tank/question
Well guys, I started working on the Blazer again today, and as luck would have it, disaster strikes again. I dropped the gas tank to clean it out and install the new sending unit and found more rust in that freakin tank than there is on the entire Blazer. That sucked!!!!! It looks like i'm gonna have to buy a new tank. I was thinking LMC, but I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions about the board vendors. I was wondering what issues anyone has had when replacing the tank? P.S., It wasn't even worth taking any pics. Thanks, Mario.

Re: Freakin gas tank/question
Support a board vendor, not LMC. The board vendors pay a lot of money to keep this site up and running.
The tanks are all the same. They all come with the WRONG filler neck, so be sure to save your old one. They are bolted and soldered on. The filler neck on the new tanks is straight, and runs straight into the body mount. The old curved one makes life a lot easier. |

Re: Freakin gas tank/question
I used a poly tank when I replaced my old rusted steel one the first time.
Wasn't a 'perfect' fit but it worked out fine I thought. Still have it, not in a blazer anymore but just out sitting in the parts yard...not rusting. Either Way, support a vendor. :gi: |
Re: Freakin gas tank/question
So what vendor sells the tank? How much. I used a sawzall to cut the filler nect off the old tank. That had some rust starting in it. I cut it off as close to the tank as i could.

Re: Freakin gas tank/question
Since others have gone before us. Thanks to them its really not that bad. Find a good radiator shop/gas tank guy. I was shocked how few if any were still left here in my area. I am just now finishing my tank up. Only suggestings would be to get all new hoses with extra length on the tank. Bundle them up on the top so they don't get in the way while mounting. I used Garage door rubber to replace the rubber under the straps and on the frame brackets. It cost me $80 to get the old neck put on but all in all it worked out good
