Engine Color? Ideas needed

Well, I haven't made my paint choice 100% but I keep coming back to my original idea. I am looking to do a satin black exterior and a gloss hugger orange on the inside of the bed, interior and inside the engine compartment. Rally wheels most likely will be this orange as well. I will then do traditional flames, yellow to purple fade with blue pinstriping. I have had this idea in my head for years now.

Now comes my problem... what color do I paint the engine? It's going to have kind of a old school look with finned oil pan, valve covers and air cleaner. The low areas in the fins will be painted with the rest of the parts polished. My issue is, I was going to do the block and these finned areas in orange but with the engine compartment orange, it will just get lost in there. What ideas or colors do you have?

Another thought was to do the inner fenders and core support in black and the firewall and underside of the hood in orange. This would tie things together but allow the engine to pop.

Ideas or thoughts?

If the inner body work is all orange, a black motor would stand out nicely, and never look dirty

I agree with Black! Black makes all your accessories stand out (Aluminum & Chrome). It is supposed to make your engine run cooler (at least that is what all the racers claim). And it hides dirt and oil very well!

i'll be different, i always like metallic gold on an old school themed engine, but definatly wouldnt look good with an orange engine bay.

Actually L6s were dark blue [not the lighter '77-on GM Corp Blue] in the earlier 235 series and 230 & 250 in the later L-22 series. Pre- '62 261s and '63 model year and later 292s were Alpine Green. In '67 [maybe '65 0r '66 IDRK] all L6s and SBCs went to Chevy Engine Orange.
I've got a Chevy Engine Orange 292 in a 516 Omaha Orange '68 Stepside, but this was the factory look. That truck was only 5 Y.o. when I bought it. I've kept the original look. The Body orange is more tangerine-like and the engine color is more tomato red.
Fender skirts and radiator wall are satin black, firewall is body orange.
I suppose if I absolutely was ruled out from any orange, I would go with a hi temp wrinkle black and cast iron gray look.

Okay, if I go with a black block/head, I have a no name alumimum intake manifold. Should I leave it bare or should I paint it with the block, to keep the stealth look of stock?

Also, what do you think about doing the low areas of the finned parts in orange with the block black or should I do these areas in black as well?

Thanks for the comments so far.

Silver... I don't know why but against the orange I think it would look good.
