Receiver hitch mounting bolts?

Found a hitch for the 83 C1500, but the hitch is with me, and the truck is at Dad's.

Does the frame already have holes for mounting, and if so, does the frame have nuts welded on the inside of the frame that the bolts go into, or do I need to get bolts AND nuts/lockwashers to bolt this thing up?

Got the same question for the 95 GMC on which I also have a hitch to install.

The aftermarket receiver that I have has six mounting points, three on each side. You'll need the mounting hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, lockwashers and spacers). One type of spacers (~1/2" thick plates) is used between the receiver mounting surface and the lower frame rail to clear the rivets. The other type of spacer (~4" long) is used between the frame rails for the middle mounting points on each side since bolts run thru both the lower and upper rail whereas the fro and aft mounting bolts on each side of the receiver just mounts to the lower frame rail.

Thanks for the info.

It's a lot of fun trying to get stuff together for a weekend of working on the trucks. I'm thinking about bringing one home to tinker on, then swap it out with the other one, but we live in a subdivision (no shop) and already have a fleet of Jeep junk around so I might get my house burned down if I park another project out in front of the house. In the meantime I only get to wrench on the trucks when I take the kids to see their grandparents.

Thanks for the tip. Sounds like I'll have to stop at the hardware store on the way to the folks.

Do you have a spare tire on your truck? If so, I'd like to know if the hitch fits around the spare. I have been wanting to get a hitch for my truck but the spare tire looks like it would be in the way.

On my truck, the hitch fits around the spare tire location, although I had to relocate the bolt/retainer for the cross strap. I used 1/2" plate to relocate the mounting hole for the cross strap bolt/retainer as it also functions as a spacer between the lower frame rail and the receiver hitch. It's a bit of a tight fit, but it works.

I'll let you know how it works out. My hitch is a surepull (now hidden hitch) 82000, which I originally bought for the 95 Sierra, but it wouldn't work with the spare mounted, and then I discovered that the same hitch will supposedly fit our 83, and unlike the 95 there is no * saying it won't fit with factory spare, so I'm going to try to use it on our 83, which does have a factory spare carrier under the bed.

It will be a couple of weeks before I'm back down to Dad's to work on it.
