Interval wiper Steering column photo

I have an 85 that I am putting a tilt column in to. I have it torn down to replace the key cylinder. So I have the top of the column all apart. Since my truck did not come with interval wipers I'd like to add them. Does anyone have a picture (or can snap one) of the module for the interval wipers mounted on the column? That way I can see where it goes. Thanks in advance!
Bob

That would be very much appreciated I have an 85 Shop Manual and it does not show it anywhere. it makes the following reference which is as clear as mud. "Light duty trucks use a separate control assembly to operate the wipers over a variable delay of 1 to 20 seconds. The control assembly plugs into the selector switch at two different connectors. One of these connectors has a piggy-back connector that connectors to the regular wiper harness. There is also a lead from the control that plugs into the accessory cavity of the fuse panel. Thanks to anyone that help decipher all this nonsense!

Re: Interval wiper Steering column photo

Hey sorry about not posting last night but got caught up with other things here.
Anyways here's the pics I promised for ya.

Under the column remove the lower dash access panel
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...N/MVC-085F.jpg

Then you will be able to see the wiper control module (if you've got one)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...N/MVC-086F.jpg
If not then you can add one in but you'll need to change out the switch as well as the lever (arm)

Heres a pic of the topside of the module Note that 2 of the 4 claws are busted off on mine. (my stupidity)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...N/MVC-087F.jpg

And lastly of the mount itself on the underside of the column
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...N/MVC-087F.jpg
Hope this helps y'all out!!!

Man that is awesome now I know what I am looking for at the you pull it parts yard. I am assuming that the exisiting column harness plugs into the module on one side and the pigtail connects to the other end of the exisiting harness. Thanks for your post! You DA Man!

right on!!
thanks!

sorry to 'jack the thread, but.......
another question.......does anyone have a wiring diagram for the delay wipers on a '85(switch on the turn stalk) and a delay diagram for a '80 (switch on the dash).
all the diagrams I have found just show a 2 speed switch, no delay. I'm converting my '80 to the '85 up wiper delay switch/module set up.
The P.O. had already swapped in the newer tilt column....
Thanks!

Alright, I'm an excellent thread jacker.....so I will continue.
I got a junkyard wiper module from a '89
I have everything but intermittent wipe.
Anyone have specs on troublshooting the switch and the module.
I get a resistance change when you adjust the switch, but I'm unsure what value it should be. I'm figuring that I got a bad module, but I would like to be able to condemn it for sure. Can't complain too much, the module only cost me $5.....there were several other modules at the pick and pull, is there a way to check them with a meter to see if they are any good?
Ramble over, thanks

Check the brown/wht to brown wires coming off the switch side where the Pulse Wiper Module goes. Run the switch through its cycle. You should see a range of 50 to 500 K Ohms. If within that the switch is good. If you have it hooked up then the module is bad. If not in that range the switch is bad. Source: 86 FSM.

^ x2

My 78 desperately needs delay wipers and when I put the overdrive auto column in there it will have the control stalk type wiper controls.

he man! I see you got the 86 FSM. I got a 86 model Suburban K20 Silverado model and my Interval mode is not working. Loand High are fine though. Can you please see if there is a procedure I can use to check out what is causing my failure?

thanks a lot man! also sent you a pm

If you find a way to test them, I would appreciate it if you would share the info with me. My situation is the same as yours. Everything I have ever read on here says that there is no test procedure known.

I did the same thing.. not long ago.... I put a tilt column from a Silverado with all the goodies on the turn signal stalk..

My stock column didn't have tilt, nor did my truck have Intermittent or cruise either... Tilt works great... no cruise (of course).. but the wipers work good on high and low.. through that module the tilt column came with... now in order for the intermittent to work.. do I need to add a different type motor, or something else that my truck doesn't have??

Or is it just the module, and having the actual dealy wiper stalk all I need? (and maybe just have a bad module)

BTW.. My truck is an 84 (Custom Deluxe),.. and the donor came off of an 84 as well...(Silverado)
