New Appreciation for this board

I just bought my daughter a Honda Civic for a cheap car to drive. I went on a Honda board and they said there was Honda service manuals to download for free. I couldn't get them to download even after changing some privacy settings. After about five tries they loaded without timing out.

I asked a question regarding how to get them and I got everything from "download Adobe Acrobat" to "they work fine for me" Duhhhhh, some of us go to work and use pdf files frequently. :smoke: I guarantee I could have created a pdf file of the manual that wouldn't have had a different file (each un-named) for each page of the manual!

Thinking it was just me and that they were probably trying to help with the obvious, I read a few more posts. They seem to love calling posters idiots. A different generation I guess.

That's why I'm here, because you guys all deliver the TLC we need! LOL:metal:

Hey! Don't let those guys spoil it for the rest of us.

I will generally agree though, my generation is full of those type of people... I have a few choice words to describe them... not too board friendly though.

Yeah, I know it isn't everybody that age. I have kids that age!! They and their friends are great. I see alot of college age kids every day and coach high school age. A lot of them are spoiled, but if you look hard there are also a lot of good kids.

There seems to be a lot of haters on 'other' boards....Especially where moderation is super lenient (anything and everything goes).

This is sure to lead to major s#!t talking, curse'n and just plain a$$ holes !!!

This is definately the place to be !!!

Heck, if she'd help, I'd give her an old chevy truck!

John, you are correct about the moderators. In fact, one of the smart a*^es WAS one of the moderators. Kudos to you guys who give your time to do that so well!

I agree with everyone who has already said it. This board is the best. Now to your problem. Post the link the the manual and I will try to help you get it. I have had to deal with this exact issue a few times trying to get bike manuals.

Re: New Appreciation for this board

Sadly enough there are several boards like those honda ones. I was so discusted with another project that I ended up creating my own because I couldn't take the attitudes of others.

Back on topic time. ;)
This board is by far one of the best I've "ever" been on. I've been on several and there is nothing worse than a "newb" asking a question and getting flamed because he didn't use the search. I mean there are mods that actually take a screen shot of the search bar and paste it in their signature and it says something like this. "Before you start a new topic use this" I mean come on. New questions mean new posts. New posts mean more user inner action. Heck sometimes even generating new members because they join in.

Anyways thanks for being such a cool forum and a bunch of cool guys/gals. Moderators rock and all the people on this forum with all their help and advice is second to none.

I agree Curt as this forum has it all .. and then some .. LOL

I have taken many of the great posts from this forum with great advice and "How To Do It " and copy and pasted it and sent it to my printer and now have a book of them in a 3 ring binder to refer to when needed..

Re: New Appreciation for this board

Definately right about other boards! Sometimes I think they are set up simply as a contest to who can be the biggest A-Hole. The first board I ever wen't on was a hot rod board that was nothing but people belittling you and putting you down, especially if you were a newb. Only one guy on there was even close to nice. On one of my mopar forums all anyone does it trash talk each other. When I first started on that site it was as busy as this one, now I only check it once a week because there are usually only be 10-15 topics with new posts per section. This forum is definately the best I have been on!!

Re: New Appreciation for this board

I'm on an S-10 board as well and I don't really post over there. You have to search through pages of bull spit to get an answer to a simple question, and God forbid you ask a question that's already been asked. You'll get told by 5 people in a row to use the search function  Well, I did, and it gave me pages of threads that had nothing more in them than a bunch of idiots posting "use the search function."

I think I've answered "will 71 chevy fenders fit on a 68 chevy?" hundreds of times. I don't mind. No one else around here seems to mind either. I actually get annoyed when someone tells a poster to use the search function. If you're not going to help, stay out of the thread. Fortunately, this happens rarely.

If you can't tell from my post count, I love this place. I even scraped together some extra $ to be a supporter again... it just felt wrong being pink for so dang long!

As a new member I can tell you I love this place. Although my girlfriend would like me to spend less time on here though.

I agree. Everyone's encouraging and positive, even when we had someone ask a serious question about front-wheel drive conversions.

Re: New Appreciation for this board

Isn't front wheel drive when you walk out and lock out your hubs and put her in 4 low?

Kinda, I think it's when you blow your rear end when your out wheelin' and have to drag her home running on the front axle only?
