Rear step fender queston

I have A Vette rear end under my 68 stepside and this limits wheel spacing thinking about widing my rear fenders about 2" so I can use a wider wheel what do you all think about it and has anyone done this before show pics if you got em

I think US body has them in fiberglass that are 2 inches wider than stock?
