Crazyness I tell you!!

Check this out. The truck I just got for $500.00 had a low front driver side tire. I aired it up and then developed a radiator leak and now the engine is hard to start. I was getting it ready to show the girl who has my old '72 and wanted the tires aired up so she could drive it. I never had a problem with the radiator or starting the thing before.

Here's what it's doing....after I have it running for a while and shut it off, it will start again if I immediately try to start it. If I let it sit for any length of time it is extremely hard to start and I have to floor the gas pedal before it will fire off and run. At first I thought it was the ignition until it started while I was holding the gas pedal to the floor. It did this multiple times.

I have been impatient waiting to trade the girl for my old truck so I have been doing little things to the truck like changing the oil, fuel filter, making sure the fluids are topped off, etc. I think I'm going to end up rebuilding the carb, maybe that will help with the starting issue or is it a choke thing?

Sorry, I put this in the wrong section. Can someone move it to the 67-72 pickup area?

What, you don't think us squarebody guys are smart enough to figure it out?
And I was going to tell you how to fix it, til I read that last part. ;)

Sounds like the float stuck, or the welch plugs under the jets started leaking
and is flooding the engine.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that at all. Just figured that since my truck was a 72 I'd put it in the right section. Thanks for being nice about it.
