:new:here goes my name is Eric. Im 14 and a freshman my dad got me into this hobby when i learnd to crawl.When i was about four my dad got a '69 C10 swb fs his dd and also got a '69 C10 swb step as a parts truck from a friend. He had to sell the fs when i was 7or8 so now the step is mine. Im starting to kno more than my dad about 67-72 and thats a very rare for me but all thx to this board and its insightfull members so thanks.

welcome to the board... and you just proved something with those photos.
Factory documentation states you could not get the lower trim on a stepside.
not only does yours have it, but it is listed on the SPID. Very cool indeed! Nice to know the factory installed lower trim did NOT go onto the rear steps.
Looks like it was redone at one point too, with the upper trim added and the CST badges.
Short step trucks are super sexy, and don't let the haters tell you otherwise!

I think short steps look great. Get that baby knocked out just in time for you to get your drivers license. You'll have the coolest ride in school.

wow i didnt xpect that quick of response and thanks well if you look at the model# its say CE10734 so its supposed to be a fleetside bc of the 34 right and step is 04

The SPID lists the both the upper and lower moldings, but it does seem that the CST emblem was added.

Oh, you are are right. I didn't even look at that. I guess I saw that it all looked the same color and just assumed it was a factory stepper. I personally would either find a short fleet bed and add trim or lose the trim if I were going to leave it a stepper. It kinda looks funky just having the trim in front IMO.;)

Nice truck! Save that seat too...very cool old school black vinyl. You are going to have a very nice ride when you get it back on the road. Paint can wait...you live in a very sunny state...LOL!

my dad had a 67 step 8 years ago.. i wish he would of kept it.. i like steps to so i think you should do like all these guys are saying.. get it going for when your able to drive you can be styling

Welcome to the boards!!!

That will be a fun high school project. Get it running and dependable for when you can drive it. Plenty of time for the bigger mods after you enjoy it for a few years...

i completely looked over the model number too!
You are 100% right, a 34 is a fleetside.
I agree with the comment of ditching the trim all together and going with the step bed.

I did just notice something about your SPID that I tried to find out several months ago. 601 is normally "black cloth trim" but I was pretty sure that 601 was also used as saddle cloth trim in 69 but could never get a hold of a real SPID to document it.

Welcome from SC. I would ask the auto shop teacher if he has any plans that you could use the truck as a ginny pig. In a nice way though. I know here in the past our vocational school will use students vehicles to work on if they pay for the parts which you have to do anyway. Talk to him and explain your idea's with him he may help you out more than you think if it helps him with his classes.;)

Great project ya got going there and from your past history
I would think you already know where you are going with it.
Keep us updated and, of course, lay on some current photos.

From the pics, it looks like there’s a nice body on the rig plus
there’s been a bit of rust repair done already. You have a nice
bench seat, good glass, documentation… a very intact truck plus
a dad who also loves the beasts and has raised you on them…lucky you!

Maybe start a project thread while your rebuild is still young?

Im gonna keep it a stepper originaly i pland to change over to fleet but the stepper just grew on me also only the driver side door and fender have molding on it.Im keepn the seat it only has a few rips but it still good.Here are some pics i took yesterday.
