My little project today.
3 Attachment(s)
Here's mine for the day. I have my grandmothers grand parents dining table and chairs. They are rather worn and well beaten. My daughter was standing in the chair (broken piece) and snapped it. I took it apart today. I used large stock to rip down to what I was replacing because lumber sizes are different in todays measure. I had to cut off the old tendons that connect to the new piece. They were 9/16" and I cant get that size dowel. I decided to pin them with 1/2" dowel on the repaired side. I didn't want to completely disassemble the chair. Thats why the last pin goes all the way through the leg. It looks pretty simple, but there were some tricky little angles that had to be just right.
Oh, and darn I had to get a new Forstner Bit set. They are my favorite wood bit on sale for $19.99! Anyway I'm pleased with the outcome. |

Nice work!
I especially like how you have a picture that shows two nice big workbenches, and then it appears you did most of the work on your freezer. |
Re: My little project today.
Nice.Glad to see you saved it.Are you going to test a stain on some scrap? You`ll never know it was fixed.

Pic #5 is with the new piece stained. I kind of messed up the order that I posted my pics. As you can imagine there are many coats of laquer on them. I'm going to rub another coat of stain on it and then toss a couple coats of either a schellac, or polyurethane on it. |
