Dim left headlight not the bulb help again please.
Just noticed the left headlight is dim hooked up another one and same thing, the driverside is normal i have no ideas. Painless harness installed about 5 years ago, checked the fuses but no dice. just got the truck back on the road from a new engine install, could this be a wiring problem with the light harness?
thanks |
Re: Dim left headlight not the bulb help again please.
most likely it is a faulty ground. No clue where the aftermarket one grounds, but follow the pigtail to where it bolts to something (coresupport if it is like the original), unbolt it and clean/sand the metal. Reconnect it and see if that fixes it.
It's getting power, we know this becouse it lights up. But the power must have a good ground. |

Re: Dim left headlight not the bulb help again please.
the 3 wire connector that attaches to the headlight SHOULD have a light green, black, and brown wire. If so, and if it is a painless harness, they will be marked every 5 inches or so. They will say high beam head lamp, ground, low beam head lamp. I would pull the headlight and see if the wiring is marked as I describe. If so, I would think the black will say ground, and be grounded to the radiator support close to the headlights. Just worked on a 50 Chevy with painless wiring and this is what I found.

Found it!! yall were right, the ground was loose at the firewall. The truck has been sitting for a while untill recently so i expect i will have plenty more questions as i continue to revive her.
thanks, again |
