door hinge ?
How to r+r hinge pins or new hinges any ideas? Working on a 84 blazer.
Thanks Matthew |
Hinge pins are pretty easy. Just pop the old ones out & the new ones in. Probably take two people to man-handle the heavy door. I did mine by myself by rolling down the window & grabbing the door from the inside. I put my arm through the open window & hooked my shoulder/bicep area under the mirror to support it.
The hinges are a little harder. Besides the bolts you can see easily, there is a bolt that goes into the hinge from the inside of the truck. It's a pain to get in there & locate the bolt to remove it. You kinda have to go through the dash & work around the kick panels. |
My problem is that the bushing is worn and has allowed the pin to oval out the hole for the bushing. What to do?

I guess you'll have to replace the hinges. It's just that one bolt that will give you trouble.
In the hinge pin kit, they give you an extra set of bushings that are larger in diameter than the original ones. Maybe the worn out hole could be drilled out to the size of the larger bushing. Don't know for sure if this will work or not, but it's an idea. |
I'll look for a pin kit and see what I can do.
