72 cheyenne super sport??
 

I just got back from tx with a 72 4x4-trying to figure out the cheyenne option on this truck. The glove box code is 1ye955 cheyenne super sport. The exterior has no cheyenne badging- only the interior-anyone know anything about this option??

The glove box door would be a cheyenne super. You will have to determine if it is correct for the truck or not. Does the truck have woodgrain dash cluster and glove box door with super emblem? Headliner? Cargo light? There is another thread going right now here that breaks it down pretty well.

ye9 is the option code for cheyenne super custom sport truck if it is on your spid then the emblems were probably removed from the exterior when repainted at some time. Does the serial # on the spid match you vin plate?

it was just called cheyenne super.
Double check the VIN on the spid to the VIN on the door jamb.
Basicly, it was a whole bunch of bright trim, the acc guages were standard, cargo light, upscale int to include a headliner and some more trim inside.

The VIN numbers all match. Yes, the glove box and gauge bezel are the correct woodgrain. I have a 72 cheyenne super -the glove box says cheyenne super equipment instead of sport. The exterior of the truck in question just says custom 10- no woodgrain trim or tailgate panel.

On my Cheyenne Super both YE9 CHEYENNE SUPER and Z84 CUSTOM SPORT TRUCK are on the build sheet. So I guess that you could technically call it a Cheyenne Super Custom Sport Truck :lol:

I didn't mean to confuse anyone with that.Some spids will have it listed as custom sport truck.I have some spids list z84 that say cheyenne and some say custom sport truck. I have some spids list ye9 that say cheyenne super I know that z84 should be plain cheyenne or sierra and ye9 should be cheyenne super or sierra grande but have found that this is not always the case.sometimes with custom campers and special promotionals the spids get several option codes on the same spid.I have a sierra grande that has custom sport truck on the spid and list sierra grande equip on the same spid .I also have sierra grande that has ye9 Attachment 444274

Thanks for your help-I'll try to get some pics posted as soon as I get a chance.The truck does have the cargo light and headliner along with the woodgrain goodies

My 72 SWB also has Cheyenne Super Sport listed on the SPID. Check your VIN, truck was probably built at the St Louis plant. I think someone there just happened to type it that way, as I have only seen the option listed as "cheyenne super sport" on trucks assembled in St. Louis.
