Monroe Shocks for Lowered '68
Used a set of 3" coils up front & need to find some shocks. Search found recommendations of KYB, Monroe Matics or Reflex, Nitro Drop, Doetsch Tech & other but have never seen part numbers.
Does anyone have part numbers for Monroes? I'd even take part numbers for OEM length Monroes just for the specs. Help me get my baby inspected & plated tomorrow guys!!! TIA!! :c2: |
Monroe Shocks for Lowered '68
:help: Posted this question in the Suspension area also but thought I'd ask in the correct year bracket also.
Used a 3" coil to lower the front of my '68 & need to put shocks on it. Have searched & came up with many "brand" recommendations but didn't see any part numbers. Does anyone have part numbers for any of the Monroe shocks that would work for this appl. Would also take numbers for OEM length Monroes just for the specs. Shocks & repairing the tail wire harness are all that's keeping me from plating the truck for daily driver status. Please help!! TIA!! |

measure the mount distance go to auto store and match them up. I am working on a 68 with 2" drop spindles and 1" springs and stock shock worked for me.

Re: Monroe Shocks for Lowered '68
This is what my research got me yesterday.
Ride height after 3" lower coils is about 11" on center for front shock mounts. OEM Front: mounting 1/2" X 1 & 3/8", Compressed 11.875", Extended 18.375", travel 6.5" Monroe Sensa-Trac (think) is # 37040 Shortest we could find in Monroe Reflex w/ same mounting: Comp 9.75", Ext 14.75", travel 5.0" and Part # 911090. Just not sure if this is short enough & the last thing I want to do is pay over $100 to ruin a pair of brand new shocks in a short while. BTW, how tall are your bump stops from the top of lower A-arm? Please, help a brother out. :help: |
Re: Monroe Shocks for Lowered '68
I've got a 4.5/5" drop on my truck and am using the Monroe Sensa-tracks for these trucks. They don't come any shorter in the mounting style we need unfortunately. Believe me I spent hours looking on the website and even bought a set that I thought could make work only to find out that it would be a pita to swap the bushings end to end. They were only 1" shorter anyway.
