USA-1 license tag
Anybody out there with a parts truck that possibly has an old USA-1 tag on the front of it? I am wanting one for my '71 and for my Chevelle. Looking for any style of tags. Thanks Trevor

Re: USA-1 license tag
yeah, I know about the reproduction one, but I am looking for original ones that say something towards the bottom, and they are a little bit heavier weight. They don't have to be in mint shape though, looking for any leads on some used ones. Thanks for the link though. Trevor

Re: USA-1 license tag
Hey Trevor, the true early originals are hard to find. They are on Ebay fairly often, but they aren't cheap. They made a different version of the USA-1 plates starting in 67 I believe, they changed slighty in design and wording every year up untill 72.

Re: USA-1 license tag
Thanks Ray, I knew they were pretty hard to come by, most threw them away to put another tag on. I also know that they are worth a ton if they are in really good shape to Muscle Car collectors. I am trying to find some that are in half way decent shape to dented up ones. Trevor

Like this one?
I had this on my '71 Chevelle SS in 1980,... I still have it. It's probably what you call "reproduction". PM me if you are interested. |

Re: USA-1 license tag
lowlife, I am looking more for ones that say slogans below the usa-1, or any of the gold lettered usa-1's as well. The gold lettered ones are the ones that would be correct for our year trucks and my chevelle. Yours is in really good shape, and probably not a repop, but it is the later style tag for like 75-87 ish gm vehicles. Trevor

Re: USA-1 license tag
I've got one on my beater that we pulled off of a junker a while back.
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/100_2721.jpg teeitup just posted a truck that he's parting out with one on the front that's a bit tweaked. I had thought about seeing if he'd sell it to me, but I don't really need it. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=334829 |
Re: USA-1 license tag
Teeitup said he's gonna hang it on his garage wall.

Re: USA-1 license tag
I meant to post a link, but there was one on Ebay last night that was still at a decent price. It had gold lettering and fairly straight (only missing a little paint).
Search USA plate, just don't buy the dinner plates. :D |
Re: USA-1 license tag
Dang it! this thread reminded me of the nearly new nos one that I had on a truck that I sold a few months ago!:dohh::banghead::cuss::m6:

Re: USA-1 license tag
Randy, I don't blame you one bit. I think the worn in tags look the best especially on a truck. Let's you know where that truck has been and the miles it's seen. Trevor

Re: USA-1 license tag
Trevor, FYI you can tell an original versus a repro by the screw hole slots. The originals have a small opening like the one Randy has, the repro ones have a larger opening roughly 3/4 inch in length.
