73-87 flip kit on a 72...possible???
 

My first post, new to the whole C-10 thing. I've tried to search and have yet to come up with an answer. The DJM flip kit for a 72 is like $130 maybe a little more, but the western chassis flip for a 73-87 c10 is $79. That sounds awesome to me, but will it work. What is the difference between the two flips?? I know the leafs are a different size but would that affect the flip kit?? I could see it being an issue with the bottom plate, but would just leaving the u bolts a little wider affect anything??

This truck is not going to be fast or have a lot of power, just low and slow....so if anyone knows I would really appreciate it....

i dont think leaving the ubolts wider will efect anything i would make sure that the cup that hte rear end sits in is giong to work because i believe that 67-72 trucks have 12 bolt rear ends and the 73-87 have 10 bolt and dont know for sure if the axle tubes are the same diameter you might want to checke this out and for that matter you could make your own cup for your rear end and just buy longer ubolts just my 2 cents worth

The axle tubes are both 3". I put a 12 bolt in and flipped it to replace my 10 bolt. I just built my flip. Spring perches cost me about $15. Cut off the original ones, flip the axle, line everything up, tack the perches. Pull it apart, weld the perches solid, bolt it all back together. Of course, you want to be sure your pinion angles are good. This is not a true step by step but it gets you close.
