Who all has a 472/500 caddy in their truck

a friend of mine has given me a 500 caddy with a th400. So I am going to be putting it in my 72 short bed. I would like to see some pics of your install. What mounts did you use. I am guessing the engine is about a 76. It has a electronic ign. What kind of milage are yall getting. I plan on going with a 3:73 gear with a built 700r4.

go for it you will like it, the 700r will probably not hold up, I get 16 miles per gallon with mine running 70-75 mph, you will need 73-87 motor stands, do a search for more info, Longhornman has a site with good pictures and info

The 700R4 will not hold up at all... unless you spend a ton of money on billet items. Like 3500.00... ask your trans builder to make it hold to 500ft lbs of torque. Mine laughed at me.

If you need OD, go 4L80E with an adapter plate and stand alone controller. You'll still have to build a bit...

Here's mine:

More pics in my sig. Including the cross member I used and the motor mounts I built.

as much trouble as you have had with 4l60e's i would ditch the od and go with t 400 & 3.07's.. that motor, tranny, gear combo will pull any thing you will want to put behind it!!and then some.
