Orange and white 72 Cheyenne Super SWB
Hi, I am just starting a restoration on a 1972 SWB orange and white tu-tone Cheyenne Super. Does anyone know where I can pick up the woodgrain trim pieces on the door inserts and glove compartment? What I have is in good condition except it is scratched and faded. I am also putting in stock factory buckets. I have the console. I will be using my teenage sons as manual labor. It came with the "feathers" decal package. My wife hates the color but I think I will keep it since there are not many like this one out there.

Welcome aboard from Shawnee, KS!
hugger orange is one of my favorite factory GM paint colors! looooove it! by the way, do a search on "eagle truck decal" (I think). we had a discussion about the dealer installed decals not too long ago. I'd get another hood and hang the original one with the graphics up....... but I'm knd of weird like that. anyway, welcome. as redneckgirl stated, you should really consider doing a build thread on your Cheyenne!!! we'd love to watch your progress. especially on a great looking truck as yours. |
Re: Orange and white 72 Cheyenne Super SWB
I am kinda slow on the restoration but will post photos as I can. I would consider putting the "feathers" decals back on if I could find them. One guy had a set but would only sell them with a longbed he had. I tell my wife I have an oranged haired girlfriend who lives in the garage.

I am starting on the frame today. I was able to remove all of the rusted bolts from the bed. I had read in other postings to tack weld the bolt heads to the bed so they could be unscrewed. I do not have a MIG welder so what to do? I just bought a $10 Vise-Grip and was able to loosen the bolts by hand so I could grip the rounded bolt heads with it. Worked like a charm!
