Anyone have brake cover suggestions ?

I didnt notice the ugly suspension and brakes behind my 17 inch Boyds that bad . I bolted the front 20's on today and I notice the factory nasty equipment . Anyone running any brake shields or have any suggestions ? If nothing else I will just paint all the suspension and add slotted rotors .

Frank the covers that everyone sells looks weird to me, and they aren't cheap. I suggest a good cleaning and blast everything with satin black. Then come back with Eastwood cast iron grey, or detail grey or aluma blast.

The rear tires are still at my buddys shop . I will get them mounted this week and take a few pics . I know the rear of my truck is lowered 5 inches but the front doesnt look like the 3.5 inches it is suppose to be . It looks like a 5 inch drop . I think I will probably go satin black on everything so it disappears . I also thought about getting the silver cad rotors and using silver or red caliper paint on the calipers . Who knows ? I do know that this is the first set of 20's I have ever had on any of my vehicles . I like the fronts and I am sure the added width and wider lip of the rear will please me . I am slowly growing up .

Well I run the shields... IMO it makes my wheel stand out and I constantly get compliments on how clean of a look I have. JMO and experience... I will always run them. BUT if I had disc at all corners and everything was new... it may sway me differently! ;)

You could go buy a sheet of black poster board and cut it to resemble a dust shield. Bolt on a wheel and see what it looks like. I think the shields are something that will look different depending on the wheel/truck color etc.

Re: Anyone have brake cover suggestions ?

...........oh, my choice would be Krylon semi-flat black for the brake components.

Anthony , May I have a little more info on your setup ? What brand , where from , how much , etc. and how are they designed for the rear ? Do you have to space them out to clear the lips on the brake drums ? As to the look , I think the black shields would work well to define the spoke design of the wheel and since my truck is black , it would match .

Only way I am getting those right after putting these on is if PEBO gets me a set as a stimulus or bailout deal . No more funds . I have seen the shields that look like a brake rotor and I dont think I want that . I like what Anthony (Classic87) has I just wonder about the clearance on the rear brake drums .

Hey Frank... I have never had a problem with the lip of the break drum... I did how ever have a problem with a previous set due to the factory weights that are spot welded on. I am currently running a 1/8-1/4 spacer between the drum and shield.... no problems what so ever. If I remember right there about $130 max. for a set of 4. They appear to be powered coated a satin black and are a thick steel... very well made IMO. I order them here from a local shop... give me a buzz or PM if u want me to know more.

Thanks,
Anthony

Re: Anyone have brake cover suggestions ?

I had the drilled rotor looking covers on a 94 that I had with 20's. It was alright, but if I had it to do over I would do the black ones like Anthony has. My cousin has a set of Twisted Vistas, and he said they are a pain to keep clean without the covers. Just thought I would throw that in.
