I posted this ad on the " Engine and Driveline " thread this morning and so far haven'y received a response so I pasted the text below. Hope someone can help me her as I have to make a decision on this truck pretty quick


I found a 1992 Chev Extended pickup with 3:42 ( GU6) gears and Posi (G80) and it has the factory trailer tow package. I know I'd have to get the saddles welded on to put it on my coil spring 72 longbox but other that that is this rearend the right width for my truck. Also the truck has 180,00 miles on it and the rear end doesn't make any noise and i'm wondering if I do this swap is there ( other than a fluid change ) anything I should do if I install it in my truck?

Wow, no replies yet, I'm really surprised as I thought someone on the boards would have done this swap. Oh well this will put it up top again.

Check the "longitudinal" slop in the axle shafts.(ie) push and pull the shafts in and out to see how much play is in them. Too much will allow the C-clips to fall out, then the axles, usually @ hiway speeds. This is more common on high mileage rearends. Also check the angle of the yoke to the pads on the old diff and make the replacement the same. My 2 cents Cdn.
