Burb got broke into, now I have a hole for a lock!! HELP!!
Well thursday night at Hooters, I came out to my truck to find my door lock had been punched out and they stole a small amp and my backpack with some important military paper work in it. Not cool.
Anyways, The lock is still good but the door is pretty messed up. I don't know if its fixable, or if I should swing down to pull-a-part and just get a new door tomorrow. The whole truck is rattle-canned primer black, so painting it wont be an issue. Yet I have never pulled a door off. I can rebuild engines and fab all kinds of things for days, but I have never had to pull a door. What do I need, and how would I do it? I have power windows and locks, and I assume those doors are different from non power doors. Also its a burb, but its the front left door, so I think its the same as the pickups, but not for certain. I have thought about just going a head and shaving the locks and handles, but I don't have the money for 2 door popper kits right now, so I just need to get the burb back to the way it was. here are some pics http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...a/DSCN0631.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...a/DSCN0632.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...a/DSCN0633.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...a/DSCN0634.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...a/DSCN0635.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...a/DSCN0636.jpg |

The doors are pretty much the same once the power locks were introduced. I converted non-power to power by removing the wiring, motor and regulator. The doors are easy-Just undo the bolts on the hinge and it comes right off.

Man that sucks. You can weld in a new metal plate then cut the hole out.

Shave the doors now imo

they sell aftermarket kits that will bolt or weld to the truck that you stick the lock into, but it is kind of ugly .. best bet is swapping the door with a junk yard one.. its easy enough to swap over everything the holes are all there and burb will fit pickup and blazer as long as its 81-87 ad the blazer is only half removable roof

I need to do the same repair on a door that I got to replace my rusted doors. I think some one make a die that will reshape the door lock hole, just dont know who or where to find it. Maybe a pro body man will know about this tool.
