need help?

OK I have a 67 and it HAD manual steering (before it crap out on me). I need to know this i got the power steering box and pump out of a 87 K5 blazer. I was trying to put it in and it looks like i have to more work to make that fit. Or is there a other year the i can use with out cutting up some things? I all ready made the bracket to mount it.:help::help: will post some pics soon.

i don't think 1967 trucks came with power steering as an option and becuase of that the did not have an indent in the frame that is required to mount a PS box. I think the PS boxes have a little more "bulge" in them. I've seen people use small spacers to move the box about 1/2 inch away from the frame and i've seen people take a torch to the frame to form the indent. Not sure which route is safer. An 87 box should have the same basic bolt pattern.

67's had a completely different kind of power steering and the original style is like finding hens teeth. you can make the power steering gear box work without much trouble. if you have a set of acetylene torches or acess to them you can heat the area where the indent needs to be and hit it with a hammer. i've done it before and it's works no problem.

will i did some thinking and fab up a plate with spacer's in it and weld it together. going to try to make it work for me. I hope that i don't have to box in the frame with the tire size that is on the truck. has anyone had to do this?
