cab mounts
how hard is it to fix rusted cab mounts? their is a large rust hole at each corner of the mounts. the cab is still stable but it still needs attention. is this something that can be fixed without removing the cab?

IMO if you want to do it properly, you should remove the cab and then you can really see all the rust damage you have. However you probably don't want to see that because its more than likely going to make you want to puke. These old pickups rust badly. I know this from experience. If you can make it roadable without cab removal, then go for it especially if its just a beater and not for restoration.

Usually its just the middle area thats rusted out, just cut out the flat area and weld in a new piece. The cab being off would be a good idea though

At least, you'll think it would have been a good idea while you lay under the truck as the sparks all fall on you.

nah im gonna pay some guy an obscene amount of money to deal with the work. the rust is on the ends outside of the framerail btw. the middle part looks ok, and so does the part where hte cab bolts to the frame. it looks like the rust could just be cut out and some metal welded in, its still good and solid now i just wanna stop it before it gets any worse. this isn't gonna be a frame up show truck or anything, i just want a decent looking cruiser.
