Steering wheel poll

Ok gang...I have a couple choices here...I think i already know which one I'm doing....but I was curiouse what y'all was thinking on this.
I have 4 wheels to play with here....one which needs to go into the GMC for when it gets sold...and the other, needs to go on top of the tilt column going into the Longhorn.
The choices are;
Grant G.T... despite the bad luck many of you have had...(barn) I haven't had these problems...and I have everthing I need to install it.

A wheel out of a '90-something S-10. Very nice on the hands.

A 68 wheel sent to me by a board member which I repaired the cracks, painted black, and polished the horn button...

Or this fugly POS that came with the tilt wheel from an '81 GMC van.
(I think you can tell what I want to do with this wheel ;) )

nice shoes Andy ;)

Longhorn Man 12-23-2002 01:39 AM

I was wondering who was gonna be the first smart @ss. ;)

Except for the horn button the 81 van wheel is like the one I have in my 72.

what about one of the camaro wheels? I know you don't already have one, but that's my favorite. I am actually going to go buy another one tomorrow if I have time. Otherwise, I would have to say the s-10 wheel would look best in the longhorn, and I agree about wich one to put in the GMC too.

redneck_chev 12-23-2002 03:18 AM

I have one like the 68 on my truck. But it is too,"skinny". I would probaly go with the GT wheel. For the custom look.

GMC Jim 12-23-2002 03:57 AM

My choice !!!

I removed stock steering wheel on my '71 and installed a black 3 spoke from a '71 Pontiac Station Wagon....has horn buttons on each spoke... and fits like custom... 1/8" space beneath wheel to column.!!!...... Like the smaller diameter........

Project1970 12-23-2002 05:19 AM

It's all about the GT. :)

crazy longhorn 12-23-2002 08:27 AM

I would use the Grant Gt, I have run several of them with no problems. I have a 714 (woody) on the 69 with a 1" billet spacer. BTW, those are nice lookin shoes.....:D

I voted for the GT even though I still haven't figured out how to get it from killing my battery.

Palf70Step 12-23-2002 08:41 AM

I went with the S10 wheel. I'm not particularly found of that style grant wheel. The other 2....Yech...especially that van wheel

I like the grant wheel, I have been thinking of getting rid of mine and getting a smaller one. This one's out of a 93 chevy conversion truck.

gangforward 12-23-2002 09:58 AM

The Grant goes best with the "Hang Ten" Gas Pedal Man!

Id personally out of those choices go with the S10 wheel,im no a fan of it,but im a less fan of the others.id get a 80s Camaro wheel,or even the Chevette wheel is better,i have one on my Blazer but its falling off.If you can find one get a Buick 3 spoke(same as Vette and 69 Comfort grip option) or look in buick Skyhawks, olds starfires, those are the wheels that end up in all of my keepers.these kind

you could always find one like this one, it's what was in my pickup. It seems to fit good and it isn't HUGE like those ugly stock wheels. You don't feel like you're driving a school bus

:D

anyway here's a pic

I dunno what mine is out of, but it a factory fake leather wrapped S-10 wheel. I love it! It is thicker than the regular 4 spoke S-10 wheel. I have kinda big hands, so thicker is a WHOLE lot better. :D

barn9 12-23-2002 01:03 PM

LOL! You got me pegged Andy! I actually voted for the Grant out of those choices though. It's the horn kits I hate! LOL!

Mandrake 12-23-2002 01:19 PM

I like the original wheel the best (nice job on the resto by the way). But then again....I'm 'ol school

Mudder 12-23-2002 01:28 PM

I have a Camaro wheel but thinking about going to a Grant after I get my guages into my cluster. Some wheels are bad about hiding the lower guages.

busterwivell 12-23-2002 01:33 PM

I've got the S10 wheel in my Longhorn and I like it.

yellowgmc 12-23-2002 01:33 PM

i gotta go grant. i've go a challenger and had no probs with the horn kit. that's me tho.

Super Chevy 12-23-2002 05:14 PM

Go Grant! ive got a 14" Grant 3 spoke, works great no probablems with the horn...

PS andy, i thought you had a pioneer cd deck in old red?
