What other GM radios fit our stock dash ?
Is anyone running a GM FM radio out of another 70's car.
I was wanting to know which ones would fit . Impala , van , camaro? I did a search on here and in the faq with no real luck. Thanks in advance. Zac |

Van radios are a direct fit

Re: What other GM radios fit our stock dash ?
I have an AM/FM (minus the multiplexer) out of a Pontiac that has the correct spacing on the knobs. It needs to be "restored", but frankly I'm just not going to bother. There are people who do the resto, on the 'net.
FWIW, Mahanian crafted a billet aluminum piece that allows you to install a DIN-sized radio in the dash and have it be trimmed in such a way that it actually blends well with the guage panel and the glove box door. I understand that a lot of folks don't want to cut the dash. My dash is also uncut. But, finding a decent radio to fit the opening is like finding teeth on a chicken....and it is getting more difficult. |

I will tell you right now, most that come out of that era car are more expensive than our am/fm radios. Look them up sometime on ebay. Your best bet is a van, possibly the later style truck radios.

I have an AM from some GM car.Unless a unit is made special for a particular dash, they are standardized into the large (US) pattern and small (foreign) pattern.
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...IMG_1718-1.jpg I plan on keeping this one.I`ll be sending it to Mike Hagan Antique Aout Radio Repair to have it converted to am/fm,MP3,XM,CD ready @ 180w.It will still look like just an old am.I may go ahead and send a truck AM to keep the original look.Warning:Not cheap. But,I`m passing up on spending alot of money to get a factory am/em just for braggin`rights.I`m putting my money towards the function.I`m used to seeing AMs in these trucks,so it doesn`t bother me.(FM`s not on the SPID anyway) |

Be very careful about buying one off ebay unless you know for a fact it will fit.
I paid $20 for one from a junkyard that measured exactly knob to knob and had the front push tuners in the right place, but face plate was slighly off. I would have had to cut anyway, so I nixed the idea. |
