Spray-in Bed Liner add Value???
 

What do you guys think? I am fixing my truck up to sell it. I am going to have a bed cover on the bed... do you think adding a spray-in bedliner will add value? If I was going to keep it, I would want it in, but I don't know how everyone else feels about them.. Input please..

if it is a work truck, or a beater that'll be used as a work truck, then i say it is an advantage.
if it is a pretty truck that can be a restoration project, or is a step away from cruise in condition, then i say skip it.

Personally, that would be a good reason to pass on a truck myself.

it is pretty much a show & Cruise truck... 5/7 drop on 20's.. only thing is the bed is just in okay condition.. I am going to have a cover on it though.. hmmmm...

I don't see it adding any more value then what the liner costs... It's hard to build a truck to flip unless you got it for next to nothing...or you've got a killer set of skills.

I've got a spray in liner in one of my trucks. It allows me to be able to haul with it and still have something presentable for cruises and shows.

I though about doing it to my 68 GMC. The farmer/rancher that used to own it hauled salt and mineral blocks for his cattle so there are several pitted areas-not bad, but not perfect either.

I'm still undecided. The pros; it covers the pitted areas and looks better. The negative; if I ever decide I don't like it, it's hell to remove.

My truck has a rino liner and I would not had done it my self but it was done by the previous owner. My truck gets used like a truck from time to time so I am ok with it.

I never gave any thought to the value of my truck with or without a spray-in liner. So, I had it done with black Vortex. When the truck is done, it will be black in and out.

If someone was to dis it because of the Vortex, so be it. It ain't their truck. I can use it like a truck and not worry about damaging a super sano bed that has bright, shiny, glossy black paint. It ain't gonna be a show truck, but I plan to show it. I've got pix of show trucks with sprayed-in liners and the liner didn't even phase me. I thought, cool....he can use it w/o worry.

It's a plus on late-models, so why not on older, workable trucks?

I decided to paint the inside of the bed on the '71. It was a lot of work but the bed was way too good to cover with liner.I would leave it and let the new owner decide what he wants to do with it...

for me id be a plus, if I were buying it,

now you might be selling it to someone thats gonna wanna restore it to factory standards, and they'll have hell gettin it off lol

I agree with cdowns, if the bed has a spray liner someone is trying to hide something and the truck now needs a new bed.

I respectfully call the last two posters wrong!!! My truck is a truck that gets used that isn't hiding a thing. The paint was just as slick in the bed as it was on the outside before I had the liner installed. I think the liner looks better then a bed with skinned up paint from use.

If you want a trailer queen or a truck that you cant use as a truck then go ahead and paint it all shiney or put a beautiful wood floor in. Now I have thought about it many times doing the nice woodbed or painting it inside but I always go back to If I want to use my truck as a truck I dont have to worry about damaging the inside because of the rino liner. I still show my truck, race it and race it :lol:

I agree if your bed is mint, leave it and don't use it as a truck. If it has serious hickeys spray down the liner and looks just as good. IMO!

I like the trucks both ways ,,Liner or Paint ..
I think the liner covers up scratches but it wont cover up dents no more than paint will..
For the cost of the liner ,and getting your money back when selling it is kinda Iffy and I wouldnt do it .. imho

Here's my view. I think a nicely done, new spray in liner looks great....show or haul. My worries would be 1) fading over time and 2) when you try to sell it, would the buyer think you were hiding something?

If you're concerned about #2, make sure the underside of the bed looks good.

I'd love to spray a liner in mine and might some day. The problem is, the truck lives outside and I don;t want it to fade from the sun. A chalky liner looks like crap. For a garaged truck I think it would be a great idea.

Will spray-in increase value?...No

Will it hurt the value?...Only if it`s a show truck with paint as nice inside the bed as the rest of the truck

Will it help a sale?...Yes,if the bed is pretty beat or patched up.That`s what I`d do if I had a rough bed.That`s what I`d do if I used the truck.I hang onto mine and get my use out before deciding to sell.I`m not concerned with resale value.I`ve never been disappointed with my wallet watching the tailgate for the last time.I look at every penny as a plus.

There`s always carpet liners and tonneau or bed covers.All beds look good that way:cool:.I`d watch using a bed mat on any truck that sits out.That`ll kill a bed fast.

I did a spray in liner on mine and love it. Was my bed bad or needed covering up of problems? no, I just wanted to have the option to use it and not worry about things sliding around and scratching a new paint job.
