'76 window weatherstripping
I have the vent windows out and have the new 2 piece rubber but can not find instructions anywhere on how to take the glass out and the frame apart. I could drill a few of the rivets out to accomplish the goal but would rather do it the "right way". So if anyone has or can point me to the info I'd be grateful.
Also, until tonight I was unaware that rivets were involved. I thought it was a glue or press fit like the roll up window, is LMC the only place to get the rivets? thanks in advance |
Re: '76 window weatherstripping
Well I did more searches and changed wording.. I found one that basically gave the gist but other than the upper glass hinge rivet and the ones that hold the straight vertical rubber to the frame, I don't know if I need to remove any that hold the frame itself together..

Re: '76 window weatherstripping
When you buy the rivets they come in a pack that should do all you require.
I removed my glass by soaking the rubber in acetone so it went soft, just steal your wifes nail polish remover. |
Re: '76 window weatherstripping
I found the rivets at LMC but they're $1.95 each, seems a bit pricey and no mention of the tool was made or the ability to buy a pack of rivets.. Any other place to get them?

Re: '76 window weatherstripping
I got mine from Truck Shop in SoCal $10.00 for the kit, 14 vertical rivets plus 2 pivot rivets and tool.
www.truckandcarshop.com to shop on line. |
Re: '76 window weatherstripping
that's alot better than $2 a piece! thnx I also read of folks using pop rivets and the hand squeeze gun.. heard of that?

Re: '76 window weatherstripping
You can use them, but not for the pivot.
