speaker question for the 88-98 guys

What type (size) of speakers were offered/available in the 88-98 trucks? I would like to know what was in the dash, doors, or behind the seat if possible.

Were 6x9's ever offered in these trucks?

I am contemplating designing and making brackets for them if they were not offered (or even components brackets), and was basically wondering if there is a market for them...that is if there aren't already some out there available.

Thanks in advance folks.

The 88-94 were all 4x6 in the reg cabs, 1 in each pillar and 1 in each corner of the dash. I'm don't know about the ext cab trucks. On the 95-00 trucks, there are 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 in the door (I can't remember which) and a small tweeter in the armrest at the end near the dash. On the reg cabs there are 4x6 in each pillar. Again I'm not sure what was in the back of the ext cabs. You could check out www.crutchfield.com and put in your vehicle and it will tell you what your options are.

the 88-94 extended cabs had the same 4x6 in the pillar there was nothing behind the seat or under the window, and i am pretty sure the 95-98 were the same.

Suppose there was never interest in these?

Well i would think that's there are plwnty of us interested, prpblem wpuld be fitting the massobe things in the dash or those side panels in the rear. I know u can wedge 5 25s in the dash, I'm running some now. I have 10 sets of 6x9s and if i could fit four into my stepper in factory locations then i would.

Yep I am pretty sure that's right from what I remember.

4-5 inch rounds work too. slight modifying of course but very simple. theres even an adapter plate to put a 4 inch into the location of a 4X6 with no modifying at all. rounds sound better than ovals.

Yes, as others have stated 4x6s were what originally came in these trucks. If you decide to keep them, I wouldnt put to much money into an aftermarket speaker that is a true 4x6 as they all sound horrible lol.

But a component style 4x6 which has a 3in speaker and a tweeter, sound rather nice in their place.

Yep. That's what I have in the rear pillars on my '91.
