Where to start?

Just got my 2 owner 71 Blazer last week. Will post some pics later. It's a basic model with 4spd, AM-FM, no bench seat, full wheel covers, and a double wall top. It has some rust issues of course for a PA truck. I was wondering where to start the body work? Do I put new body mounts in temporarily to level it before I do the rockers and boxes, and A pilars? And do you put shims in the door openings to keep everything gapped correctly Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Also who sells the best replacement pieces?:chevy:

First, welcome to the board. Definitely start with replacing your body mounts and then move on from there. There is a good post somewhere in this sub forum about setting gabs and is definitely worth reading. Try the Index post at the top of this forum and hopefully it will get you to that post.

Eager to see pics of your K5.

Welcome!
Those are all GREAT questions!! I've kinda been wondering the same things.

Body mounts first makes sense to me, to level everything out....i was just wondering about that too the other day.

Thanks for the encouragement. Will do mounts first. I'm really new to Blazers. So I'm gonna ask questions if I'm not sure of something. My son got me hooked on them. He's still looking. I will get some pics up as soon as it stop raining here. We've had 8 straight days of rain so far. No wonder I have rust problems.

Start with body mounts, take lots of measurements, and don't look for the rain to stop for another 3 days. lol
