Lower Ball Joint HELP!

I just finished my drop spindle install on my 77 C10 1/2 ton.

I had some problems with the lower ball joint from the get go, it needs to be replaced. I was just wondering if anyone has and tips or tool suggestions for me? I also replaced the upper ball joint, which wasn't that hard.

If you guys/gals have any pictures to go along with the tips that would be great.

I'm getting ready to do this myself. You can rent the press tool from a local auto parts store, or you could take the lower a arm off, and take it to most shops, and some of them will press it in for nothing. That's what I am doing. A guy here at a local garage said if I brought it all to him he would press it in for me.

Re: Lower Ball Joint HELP!

You just put the truck on jackstands under both control arms, and once its securely on the stands just unbolt the lower ball joint from the spindle and lift the spindle and upper arm out of the way and there it is.

Make sure the old balljoint gets pressed out and the new one gets pressed in, whoever does it. do not beat on it with anything or you'll waller out the hole it seats in and distort the ball joint itself. Otherwise it's very straight forward, good luck!
