Mech. clutch linkage question (name that part)
Hey guys,
Summer is here, so I can finally get some stuff that's been bothering me done, and first is this darn clutch pedal slop. The pedal depresses about an inch before the linkage even starts moving, and I had to adjust the clutch where the T/O bearing is almost always touching the pressure plate fingers, but it still really isn't enough. I think I found the culprit, whatever you call this thing... it was attached to the end of the pedal rod, as you can see it has little splines. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...5/IMG_1249.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...5/IMG_1250.jpg And I'm assuming this hole that the linkage goes though was round at one time and wore over time causing the slop. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...5/IMG_1254.jpg Also made a little groove in the linkage.. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...5/IMG_1252.jpg Question is, are these parts factory? The diagram in th LMC catalog looks a little different. If it is, I'm guessing it's not reproduced? I found the linkage online, but not that other thing. TIA |
Re: Mech. clutch linkage question (name that part)
I don't really know what to call that part other than a clutch pedal arm? If those two parts are worn, I would also look at the clutch bellcrank. The holes in the bellcrank arms are likely worn as well as the swivel that fits into the lower arm. If you can't find a good replacement pedal arm, that one could be drilled out and have a steel bushing tack welded in. Those factory linkage arms are hardened steel, just so you know it will take a very good drill bit if you go that route.

Re: Mech. clutch linkage question (name that part)
hmm, I might just have to do that. I don't think finding one of these will be easy. Maybe Tony (LILRED) will have one.
Everything south of this linkage seems to be fine, so hopefully this will solve the slop. Any idea if this is factory stuff? thanks |

It looks like the 67-72 part is the same. That should make it very easy to turn one up. If you really get stumped, let me know, I should be able to dig up several in my shop.
Here'a picture I took of a 70 model setup. The arm you're talking about looks the same. |
