New guy from Texas

Hello, to everyone here. I am new to the site and have only been lurking a couple of days while my registration was completed.

I suppose I should tell something about me. First, some of you may remember my username from CT between 2001-2004. I used to be a regular on there with a 78 C10. Since then I have got married, had a son, bought a house and land and changed jobs. Now my son is 3 and loves to help dad, so I decided to bring the ole' 78 home from my dads house. He had been using it as a parts chaser so it was driven, but stored outside. The minor repair/rebuild I thought I would find turned bad when I noticed the bed was rotted out and the windshield had been leaking leaving me a floor of swiss cheese. I already needed a L/H front fender, hood and both doors add to that the 700R4 is going out and I have a stout engine, built rearend and a frame. My wife, who is a car girl, told me to get a loan and buy a different truck.

I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so the next morn, I applied and got a 3K loan. That was Friday, Monday I bought a straight 65 SWB fleetside. Mechanically it needs work and it is in Krylon primer, but body damage and rust are minimal given the age. I work in aviation and have a paint crew at work. They all said they could cut me a GOOD deal on getting it arrow straight and in DP-90 primer. I am going to rob my 78 of all the good parts and put them on the 65.

But first I must fix the rats nest of wiring and the rigged tilt column install. My goal is to have it those to done, lowered and in DP90 by the Goodguys show in September. That is a tall order given I have a loan to pay off ASAP as well.

I have owned 9 74-81 model trucks so I can be help with that model. This is my first truck older than 74, so I am in the dark on it, but it is simple for sure.

I am 30 years old, live in a once little town called Keller outside of Fort Worth as I mentioned above I have a wonderful wife and a 3 year old son. We are trying for baby #2 at present. I am the Chief Inspector at a company that modifies helicopters for law enforcement and emergency medical use.

Thanks for having me. Look forward to learning about my 65 and helping someone learn about the 74-87 models as well.

C. J. Daniel
