so, i couldn't help myself, i had to buy another truck :-( ... but, when i stumbled upon this one i couldn't help but :-) ...

i fell in love with this truck 2 years ago when it was my now ex-boyfriend's uncle's truck (if this is starting to sound like a redneck relations sort of story, it is) ... i told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it, to contact me ...

well, 2 years later, boyfriend is now ex and uncle is wanting to sell truck ... through facebook and myspace, friends of friends' relatives tell me uncle is selling truck ... i get ahold of uncle, and sure enough, it's for sale ... so i couldn't help myself, here he is, i named him Deuce ... he seems to have a lot in common with the number "2" ... very semetrical everywhere, two headlights on each side, etc. ... so, he's Deuce ... i'm looking foward to working on him, but definitely driving him in the meantime once his carb's rebuilt ...

he's a 1961 C2500 ... had new wheels and tires on it, new front and rear glass put in, new tail lights, and some interior work ... prior to uncle owning it, there was some shoddy bondo and body work, but he's pretty straight ... a little bit of rust in the common areas, but he's going to be my first body work project ... i've become too attached to my other trucks to attempt it on him, so he and i shall remain emotionally unattached until he's looking sexy, lol ... so, here's a few pics ...

drive the heck out of it ... lol ...

for now, conquer the carburetor, get it rebuilt ... and tackle some rust ... i haven't had enough time with him to get a vibe for what he'll end up being ... mostly, i want to learn body work, and what better to learn on than a sweet old chevy ...

Well, hellfire Allie! Welcome aboard! Always glad to see another GMC V-6 owner. Any plans on keeping the engine?

Great story by the way.....kinda reminds me of what I grew up with....

the engine stays ... its an oddball sorta thing that old to be a v6, so it's definitely staying in the truck, just because it belongs there, i've decided ... i've got other trucks that desperately need bigger motors whereas this little puppy seems to scoot the truck around plenty well enough ... i'll worry about a different engine for it later on down the road ...

The 305's really benefit from a holley 500cfm conversion.
But if your stock carb is in good condition, run with it!
And, you're right- 4 headlights are sexy!
