This is not a 71 is it?
 

Guy is listing this truck on CL as a 71. I thought the emblem on a 71 is on the grille. This is what I thought a 69-70 Chevy looked like.

Anybody know different?

The grill is a 69, 70. 71, 72 has the egg crate grill.

That's what I was about to say, it could be a 71 with a 69 or 70 grill. Check in the glove box or you could write down the VIN, one of the characters in the VIN tells the vehicles year

That is a 69-70 grille shell. Nothing to say that it wasn't replaced at some point. To confirm '71 as advertised, is it 5 lug? And, what's the VIN's 6th digit? If it's a 1, then it's a '71., 9 is '69, 0 is '70.

Isn't there something about where the rear view mirror is located to. They started mounting them on the window in what, 71?

thats a 69 judging from the side markers, they are not the lit kind, those came out in 1970.

They rear view mirror is roof mounted on all years 67-71, in 72 went to the modern style glass mount.;)

and those side marker lenses may well be the kind that were lit up. They looked exactly like the kind that were not lit.

There never was a rear view mirror installed on my 69, and no holes drilled in the roof.

that mirror was optional untill 1970

on a 71 cab where the mirror goes it has a raise spot for the mirror thats the only year. 72 was on the windsheild. 67-70 was flat and bolted to the roof

Thanks guys. Just to make sure, The VIN plate is inside the drivers door right? My current project does not have a VIN plate so im not sure where they are located.

The front bumper as well as door mirrors aren`t`71.I`m thinking the year if incorrect.
If it`s a`69 the vin-plate with be two seperate plates like earlier trucks.The 70/72s wre the same.

Nate, Im looking for one for my cousin. He is getting ready to join the Army and then hopefully be stationed at Fort Campbell with my brother and me. If he does we want to work on one together. I still cant find a short box for mine:(
