Monte Carlo fuel tank???

Anybody use a monte carlo fuel tank and run the fill behind the plate? Is this feasible?

Theres a post on here about a camaro gas tank. Early ones are the same but later model ones are offset to one side cause of the spare tire.

A buddy of mine briefly owned a truck that filled behind the plate...No idea what the tank was from though.
