New Guy, New Project 5/28/09
5 Attachment(s)
Just picked this 70-K5 up a few weeks ago, from the original owner out of Verdi NV. Project for my 13 year old son and I, pretty stocked about it!
I have noticed that everyone seems really friendly and helpful here, that is so cool for a someone like me, as I am certain I will have lots of stupid questions!! I think we got a good starter for us.. I have 3 years to complete, not going to paint it just yet, but I have a guy coming out tomorrow and see if her can buff'er out, thinking he should be able too... I'll post pics tomorrow... |

Sweeet! Welcome, your right, this is a great forum for info. I know, I've asked a lot of "dumb" questions myself! Wish my 70 looked that good!

Re: New Guy, New Project 5/28/09

looks like a good start for a project and i will be watchin this one:metal: |
Re: New Guy, New Project 5/28/09
Ya realy, you wana be my dad next? hahaha
I work in P-town so we be neighbors :uhmk: Looks like that rig has the "dealer installed" AC unit mounted under the dash. When I bought my K5 I also had that unit installed. Mine was busted up and not working so I yanked it out and tossed it. Good Luck with everything and if you post at least one pic with every "dumb" question you will be forgivin! Burt |
Re: New Guy, New Project 5/28/09
That's a nice solid looking rig and I like the underdash AC unit. You've got a luck kid!

Re: New Guy, New Project 5/28/09
Thanks everyone, we're excited! But come on, you know that when we are done I am not going to let him touch it
The A/C works, A/C needs to charged but it is sort of falling apart, any idea where I might look for a replacement? Was that a dumb question, do I have to post another pic Burt :) :metal: |

The markings under the hood look to be applied at the factory. All the trucks have a job number assigned and appear underneath parts of the sheetmetal and match numbers written on the frame. Not sure on the trucks, but the Corvettes started with 1-500 and then restarted at 1 after the 500th car was built that day. Not sure of the four digit number as I have only seen three digit numbers on my trucks. The assembly person read the build sheet and prepared parts to be placed on the vehicle. Normally just the number was placed and no date assigned. I have also seen "Pilot Job" on very low serial numbered Corvettes especially in the first year of a major change like 68.
Attachment 465780 I have seen this on the cowl area under the panel, frame and the brake bracket uner the dash. It was written on my original build sheet too. Your job number could be job 12 of that day? You may be able to find a number on your brack asembly bracket uner the dash. |

Whelp, hit the Goodguys here in Pleasanton this weekend... Walked out with new grill, inner grill and bumpers, spend most of Sat afternoon tearing the front end down, and most of Sunday bolting new crap on... The grill was a bit of a bear, but pretty happy with it! I am sure many of you know that the grill has many SHARP spots, my hands and fingers are paying the price for that today, but pretty happy with the outcome, check it:

The Blazer looks great. The guys are right about the time spent with your son. I still remember th 68' Beetle I built with my dad. Great times we shared together.
