Bagged truck headers?
1 Attachment(s)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm trying to buy a set of ceramic or stainless headers, and everyone seems to have the hooker 24661hkr which are $400. After a little searching, i found the ones pictured below in stainless or ceramic for $230 on ebay. Item #220294843314. They are a chevelle header and seem to have just about the same bends as the hooker 24661hkr headers. Does anybody foresee a problem running these on a small block? Seems like a good deal if they fit. |

Re: Bagged truck headers?
If they are the one's from skip white they are the exact one's I'm "running".
(when I say "running" I mean collecting dust in the shop, but they are bolted on) *edit* just checked... I've got these #250429111246 |
Re: Bagged truck headers?
Those headers look practically identical!

Re: Bagged truck headers?

Re: Bagged truck headers?
Just a small update on mine... The cab is on now and they fit great.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
I went ahead and ordered the ones i posted a picture of, but haven't had a chance to put them on yet. They are wysco brand headers and they look real good.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
These ebay headers will not work on bagged trucks. The drivers side hangs too low eventhough in the picture it looks like the passenger side are a longer length. The collector and exhaust pipe would of been just below the frame. They clear the framerails, bolted right up and would work on a stock suspension or static drop truck.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
Nothing a little creativity won't solve... chop the collectors off as short as you can and buy some flowmaster 45* mandrel bends. Solved.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
yeah, that was what i was thinking of doing. How much is it off the ground when layed out. I might order them black hooker headers though and sell these. Anybody running hooker 2466hkr got pics from underneath.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
I had those same headers on the stockfloored 68. Whent the exhaust was done they put a hard bend in it like the one pictured. No problems with it at all driving or otherwise.

Chopped the collector down like smashingchuck suggested and my muffler shop got it to work. Passenger side header was shorter, so only had to do it to the drivers side. Thanks.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
Glad it worked out for you. Sorry I never got around to posting pics... the truck is on the back burner while I make repairs to my house, so I haven't been out to the shop.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
Any reason why these wouldn't work with a dropmember or a SD raised crossmember?
They both move the engine forward about a inch and also move the engine up.. I'm not sure how much.. Looking for a cheaper alternative to the hookers.. |
Re: Bagged truck headers?
Came out nice im going to order a set to get rid of my suppose to be black headers that are all rusted and stuff!!!

Re: Bagged truck headers?
They should work. Baggedcten, I used msd street fire spark plug wires (part#5554) with these headers. All the wires have 90 degree boots on them so they wont touch the header.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
Over. I was surprised the msd wires were a little shorter than the stock ac delcos, so i couldn't run them under like the delcos. It worked out good though, used spark plug wire clamps to keep them away from the headers.

Re: Bagged truck headers?
just couriuos does anyone have a pic of a complete exhaust system?? I have regular headers on my truck and my collectors a ready to be rotated because one side is getting thin from dragging tham....I want to reroute my exhaust like seen in the first pic but where does it go from there to get out out the side/back?? I don't really want to just dump it under the bed/cab........... I'm bagged now with a c notch / cupped LCA and want to go lower but whats the point until I clean up this issue....
