Manual valve question
 

A few years ago I had a 59 Chevy wagon that was bagged.

It was only 2 switch, 1 front 1 back.

It used some kind of manual paddle valves. The valves were on each side of the center console and the air escaped into the console when airing it out.

Any idea if theres something like that available thats not expensive?

I see some on ebay for 20 bucks each, but not sure how they work.

I just want to bag the front of my torsion bar equipped 60 shortbed, to do away with the torsion setup.

Money is a real issue right now. Cheap cheap cheap is what Im after to get me by for awhile.

cheapest set-up I have seen used if you have a sway bar is two bags tee'd to a schrader valve. of course if your not near a gas station or other source of air when you need it.
I have a friend that is runnin like this but also tee'd in a small compressor , like a thomas 315/317 on a momentary push button. no tank or pressure switch. It is obviously slow to lift off the compressor so he usually airs up with a tire chuck on the valve and uses the compressor if he's somewhere without air.
Not sure I have the patience to hold the button down for 1-2 minutes while the truck airs up but it has worked for him for over 10 years without fail and is CHEAP.

for the panels like you describe Firestone still sells them as an accessory to their ride rite line of helper springs and I have pieced panels together using Clippard mini-matic button valves from my local hydraulic/pneumatic supply house. depending on orofice size they can be pretty cheap too.

Master Image Customs used to sell a ton of the manual panels back in the day so you might find something on ebay,garage sale, swap meet that could be pretty cheap too.

I understand the need for cheap, but your going way backwards. There are too many reasonably priced alternatives to go backwards.

Do some shopping on the minitruck sites. The younger guys are always getting in a financial bind and selling stuff of cheap.

I think this would be the best/cheapest way to go... Good seller too... I was at his shop last week... man he's got some cool stuff..

Yeah, I know Boris. I talked to him about that setup, and he says he uses it alot on all the X-frame cars they do. May be the route I take.
