Hydroboost Mounting Plates
5 Attachment(s)
These hydroboost mounting plates are laser cut from 10ga mild steel and will fit all common GM hydroboost units. As you can see in the pic it has the tang in the center hole as the OEM bracket does to eliminate rotation. These plates have the 3 3/8" x 3 1/2" hole pattern that will match up with the booster adapter brackets that I sell, as well as some OEM applications.
The hydroboost unit shown in the pics below is one from a '98 Astro Van which can usually be found in salvage yards easily. Of course there are many other applications for hydroboost units, mainly diesel powered trucks and 1 ton trucks. The cost on these hydroboost mounting plates are $26.50 each plus $9.20 flatrate shipping. However if you purchase one with one of my booster adapter brackets the cost is $21.50 and no extra for shipping. This pricing is always current and up to date. To place an order, post in this thread, send me a PM or send an email to captainfab454@hotmail.com, and I will give you the ordering and payment instructions and current lead time. Removing the nut securing the hydroboost requires a special socket. I also make those as shown farther in this thread |

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Hey Cap'n...are you pretty familiar with swapping in these hydroboost units? I picked up a brand new one for cheap awhile ago and I am not sure what I will use it on. I will definitely pick up one of your set-ups when I get to that point.
I'm more concerned about the hoses and fittings than actually mounting the component. Ive also seen two Astro vans at the salvage yard...I should go rob the hoses, huh? |

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Thanx toms84ss and Cap'n fab. Ive seen the kits for plumbing and thought they were rather pricey. I will continue to keep my eyes open and will utilize your services when it comes up.
I have a BBC serp set-up with the correct pwr steering pump for hydroboost. I think this is what I'll be putting in the 'burb eventually. |
Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Seriously considering one of the Hydroboost set-ups. Any pics of one mounted. Looks like it would clear up alot of room with the BBC in my 72. Will our lines from the prop valve tie in to the prop valve on the new valve? Have to change the length of the rod from the pedal to the booster? Basically just need to know what else is needed to make this work. Thanks man.

I made up a couple extra of the hydroboost nut sockets. The cost on these is $63.50 each plus a flat $9.20 for shipping. If purchased with a hydroboost adapter plate, the shipping for both would be $9.20 as well. additionally, if you purchase either of my booster adapter brackets along with the hydroboost adapter plate and the socket, it's $16.25 for shipping. Plus you get $5.00 off on the hydroboost adapter plate. This pricing is always current and up to date.

Bump so I can find it again.... :)

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Hey captian, don't know if you've had the chance to install one of these yet but I was curious, just about how to go about mounting the linkage to the pedal, I was thinking cutting the shaft then threading for a rod end?

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
will this work on a 60-62 firewall too?
|
Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Yes that is one way of doing it. Since you are a machinist, that would probably be the easiest for you. Otherwise the pushrod can be lengthened by welding on a longer rod, like maybe part of the original brake pushrod.

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
I would like to report that I checked a 1994 Astro/Safari hydro boost and a 2005 GMC 2500HD hydro boost and they are interchangeable. The Astro HB has a single locating keyway where the GMC 2500HD has dual keyways. The keyways are not symmetrical, but I was able to mount the factory Astro plate on the late model GMC hydro boost….

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Bump so I can find again. I sent you a message cuz I want to buy a set of these brackets from you. Damn big block doesn't make enough vacuum to run brakes :-p . Anyone have pics up of installed one yet? And does anyone know if the stock hoses off of Astro van will reach and work? Got the Hydroboost, hoses, master cylinder and power steering pump for 50 bucks off of Craigslist.

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
Looks like a nice setup Captain. I read through the posts and I am am little slow forgive me.
Will your adapter plate work with a 2002 2500hd hydroboost unit and a 73-87 firewall? Thanks |
Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
AS far as I know, this plate will work with that hydroboost unit, but it will not bolt up to the '73-'87 firewall. Are the '73-'87 hydroboost units not readily available in your area like they are here?

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
So is the socket necessary to get the hydroboost out of Astro? I havent went to pick mine up yet and was wondering if I needed it to remove it or just to take OEM brackets off of it when it is out? Also does anyone know if I still have the drums on the back can I use the master cylinder from a vehicle that had discs all the way around?
|
Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates
No you do not need the socket to remove the unit from the vehicle. Depending on the shape of the factory bracket, you may or may not need the socket to remove the factory mounting bracket. Some of the Astro vans' factory brackets will bolt right up to my booster brackets.
If you have a disc/drum brake system on your truck, you should run a disc/drum master cylinder with the disc/drum proportioning valve. Quote:
