Block and Head ID Question

I posted this in the engine section and did get some responses. However, I was hoping for a little more clarity:

Just picked up a 283:

Block:
3756519
423S and 8097 (numbers on front pad)

Heads:
3888993. However, I can't find this number anywhere. Any ideas? (date codes are different on heads, one says 1192 and the other 0202)

So what we think we know is the block is a 58 -62 283 block. But one member came back and said numers on pad referenced 327 numbers?

Heads everyone's mostly in agreement they are 350 heads.

Controversy now is running 350 heads on a 283. Has anyone ever done this?

This engine was run, no telling how it ran, but it has a few miles on it.

Thanks for any insight or information. And yes, I have double and triple checked these numbers.

Re: Block and Head ID Question

This was the closest thing I found:

Years Casting# CID Intake Exhaust CC's Comments
1968-76 3998993 350 1.72 1.5 - truck

Is the casting area real greasy? Sometimes this makes the numbers hard to read.
