New from Texas
3 Attachment(s)
I just picked up a 72, been part of my "master plan" for years. The owner last owner didn't know much about it, as in motor or whats been done. He slapped on the 2" lift and the jeep seats. I've got the original buckets and rear seat. First thing I've got to do is make sure the number match or not. Going to keep it as original as possible. Although I do want to put in a full cage. I'll be putting rallys on it if anyone wants these rims, some American Racing. I also want to put a rag top on. Lot of wants, just takes time, knowledge, and money, short on all.
First question is to help me identify what the heck I have....the id on the head is V1029TDR, what the heck is the TDR? Front axle has 44-5F (Dana?), rear is GM56, and the tranfer case is C-99404 NP (205?). Glad I found the forum, I'll be around, I'm sure with a lot of questions. Like this one, picked up a Chilton shop manual for 69-82 blazers, is this the best thing they have out there for our stuff? Part of that whole lack of knowledge thing. Thanks |

Welcome, you can find just about everything you need here!

Re: New from Texas
Welcome to the board. The Chilton is good, a lot of general information. There is a book that shows all of the build sheets, the name escapes me right now. But for the most part, all the information you need is right here on this board.

Re: New from Texas
Thanks guys. I'll take some more pics, some of the inside and post. Not much on the inside, seats and a floor board. It gets hotter than hell in there. Granted the mufflers are right in front of the rear bench. What's usually under there or on top of the floor boards to help with the heat. I burned the bottom of my heel driving home yesterday. I tend to leave shoes in random places.
I'm ordering some new body mounts tomorrow and hopefully put them on in the next week. I really want to just pull the top off, but from what I've read, I need to do that first. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I don't care, I'll do it for the hell of it. The girls (kids) and I already went for a dusty ride out at the farm, they love it, its going to be freaking great. I'm going to have to figure something up for a soft top. I'll tie a Texas flag up there if I have to. Had a heat index of 101 today and today was the "first day of summer". Just need some shade. I did get the shop manual, a lot of my answers where in there as well as others I've found online. Not real lucky with searches. The drive line seems stock. Transfer case is leaking a little oil, but everything else is fine. |
Re: New from Texas
