Kick Panel Speaker Pod Install

For those of you looking for an easy sound upgrade without butchering holes in your doors, check out these kick panel speaker pods from 73-87ChevyTrucks.com.

I bought a set to stick in the ‘Burb. Definitely a sound product (no pun intended ). I had to do some very minor, unnoticeable trimming on the underside of the panel, but all in all, the install was super easy and the pods fit great. I don’t have pics of the actual install process- I’m pretty bad about that - but it was real easy.

They pretty much leave it up to you as far as how you want to fasten them to your stock kick panel (I think it came with some Velcro tape), but I opted to screw it in place by using 3 automotive-style interior screws.

The driver’s side panel is clearanced for the parking brake…provided it’s adjusted properly.

I had my hesitations about these pods encroaching on the available foot room, but when it was all said and done, I turned out to be a non-issue.

(no, I’m not a Bro/Flatbiller…I was out of white socks and I was just screwing around at the house so I didn’t care.)

I was going to dye them blue, but upon further consideration, I decided to leave them black. They don’t look bad that way, in fact…I rather like them that color.

Overall, I’m very happy with ‘em…happy enough to buy another set for the Sled when the time comes to install some tunes. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to mutilating the lower half of your doors.

Hmm...just noticed my driver's side speaker needs to be rotated 90 deg.

They sound good. Really made a big difference. Although, I don't know how much of that was the pod as much as it was the upgrade from the stock dash speakers to the Pioneer 6.5's.

I really need a sub/amp. There's a lot of airspace in the 'Burb.

He's got the prices listed on his site. They were right at 90 bucks.
