Lincoln MIG welder and cart plan
 

Hi, I am not sure where this should go. Moderator, can you move it where you think it needs to be and delete this top line?

I got a new welder for Father's Day. My wife got it at Lowe's. I didn't like the little cart at Lowe's so I built my own. So far I am very happy with the Lincoln 140T Pkg. I didn't find much out there as far as a plan so I drew one. Here's a plan (in PDF), materials list and pics.

I have the same mig and love it. How's the cart to? Is it top heavy at all? I have the little short cart from northern tool and it works but sometimes a little more height would be nice.

when i got my mig the salesman want to sell me a cart,i said why i'll make my own and better
i got locking caster wheels
i would get a old pair of motorcycle bars and weld them in the front so you can push it where you want
just my 2 cents

It is not top heavy at all. I like the height. The 3" castors I used work great on the concrete. I didn't use locking castors. I think the wheels used by 70 cstjr would let you move it easily off concrete. I forgot to mention that I spent $30.00 on materials. Thanks for the comments.

I don't use a cart with mine, though it is a heavy little monster. It is much more portable that way. I keep the little bottle, that straps to the back, with it too. I can throw (relative term LOL) it in the back of my HHR and take it anywhere. I used to keep it behind the driver's seat of my extended cab S-10 most of the time.
Since I used to use a MIG for things like floor pan replacement, frame and roll cage type work, I liked to be able to actually put the entire machine inside the car with me. It was easier to change settings and gave me better reach w/o having super long cables.
It always seemed easier to take the welder to the material than the other way around.

We were gonna use the smaller caster but went for the big boys just for that reason..cause most of the drive is gravel..and it would only lock up and drag..it all depends on what ur gonna be running around
