Cup holder conversion for ashtray

I bought a conversion cup holder when I was at a swap meet, sold by Old Air Products.

Has anyone done the conversion and do you have any pointers?

I bought it because I didn't want the foam biggee that plugs into the opening that the ashtray fits into.

Did it to my Blazer. Its more for looks not very functional.

I know this isnt what he asked, but I wanted to share the cupholder that I used to use on my 71-this was one of thos 'shop' moments where I was taking a break and noticed the cupholder on my folding (bag type) chair, and I thought, that looks like it would clip on my 71 ashtray and work there. I hate not having a cupholder! This isnt for the 'show trucks' but its great in a beater if youre tired of spilling your coke!
I sold that truck but kept the .99 cent cupholder, heres pics on an old ashtray I used to make the pics. It just clipped on with no modifiction at all, and when I didnt need it, I just put in in the glove box, It worked awesome and was free, although not real pretty......

Many years ago, I wanted a cup holder that would hold large coffee mugs or drinks but the only ones I would find were the ones that attach to the window and were made of cheap plastic.

The solution wast to make my own. Here's a pic:

I'm really liking that one Chuck. I like that it requires no modifications.

Are these any better. They are available from some of the catalog vendors. You could run around with it in, and swap it for the ashtray for shows and meets.

There used to be one that held your drink a little lower, but it's been a LONG time since that thread has surfaced around here.

I got a free cupholder with a purchase of a child's seat. It is a little bigger and does take up a 1/3 of the bench seat, but I haven't spilt anything yet. (knock on plastic wood insert on my door panel.)

Why a cupholder? My Honda Pilot has 30 of them, which is 29 too many for me. If it won't make my truck run any faster or stronger, I leave it off. If you need a drink, find a garden hose. LOL.

No I think thats the one that you put in place of the original ashtray.

I'm looking for the "Ashtray Conversion" that LOOKS like the Ashtray and when you pull it out, you can fit 2 cans of Soda in to it.

I bought mine about 3 years ago from Brothers Truck parts. It was made by Old Air Products. I guess they no longer make them because I can't find a listing on either site. I know my friend Ace bought one for his Burb and never installed it I can ask him if he would like to sell it.
