it seem's like I had not touched my 67 in a long time and got to wanting to ride it down to pigeon forge in september so I started working on it and it hasn't stopped !

#1 put in a 3.08 set of gear's and chunk
#2 drove it a few hundred mile's then changed out the rear end grease
that little job is now done !
#3 took my wheel's off balanced my tire's and painted my wheel's shiny black instead of the flat black like I had them ,
#4 in progress gonna put in a new rear main seal and a new oil pan gasket
(IN THE MORNING I GUESS)
#5 installed new rear brake shoe's ,

I hope after tommorow I will have it ready to go !!

so what have you done this week ?

I looked at my rolling chassis and cab in the garage and then realized it was too hot and went back in the house and ordered more parts for when it is cooler.

Of course you did...isn't that all they're good for! J/K I have two of them.

I wish I was building my bed floor, but instead I got to move and remodel my bedroom (tear out ceiling and carpet, hang new drywall on ceiling, tape, paint, and install hardwood floor) now I'm just tring to get the room back together.

I replaced my Driver's side taillight housing, put in a new temp gauge sending unit (it works!) and put one of those abs plastic covers over my ratty old dash pad. My wife got the cover for me for Father's day, and my interior is looking pretty decent now.

Re: what have you done this week ?

I worked from 6-10 pretty much every day, but got off early yesterday after a rig move. So today I helped my dad switch motors in his 68. The old 396 burned oil so we pulled it and put a .040 402 in it. other than that, just waiting for monday morning to lay down some pipe and pick up some pipe.

Re: what have you done this week ?

I went to the junk yard and pulled 3 seat belts, and installed them into my 67 C30. Shoulder belts make me feel a lot safer driving it. I also found a sweet saddle blanket seat cover for $2 bucks at the bone yard. It was hot so I didn't start my search for power steering. I also bought a cherry picker and engine stand for $82 bucks at a garage sale for future weekends.

Re: what have you done this week ?

I ground the horns on my ram horn exhaust manifolds to give my valve covers some space. I've got vortec heads and the ram horns on the truck each have 4 square blocks cast on the top/inside edge that were pressing against the flange of my valve covers. It's something I've known about for a while, but I've been going back and forth on headers, so I had been putting it off. I used a grinder, a cut-off and a dremmel to get the job done. I also installed some ball-milled covers that I had laying around. They look great compared to the old steel centerbolt covers. I also relocated my oil fill from the back of the passenger cover to the front. That'll make life easier...

In the process I managed to tear the electrode off one of my taylor wires, so I've got to make up a new wire or two. I'm also going to reposition my alternator with a little longer belt, so it doesn't contact the valve cover. All in all, just a little tweaking to make it all a little better.

Re: what have you done this week ?

I wish I had got as much done as some of you all on my '67 and '71, but it seems something is always getting in the way of working on my trucks.

This week was no exception.

It is busy the season here on the farm with mowing, bush-hogging and ice storm cleanup still going on.

I had a dentist appointment and my wife had two.

I serviced my Husqvarna lawn tractor, removed the camper from the '92 K-3500 duallie and put a new blower motor resistor in the '86 4-Runner.

My son and I put a better hood on my '71 C-10 farm truck.

We finished replacing all the rusty sheetmetal in the floor of my grandson's '63 and painted the interior.

Working on the '63 is a joint venture with my son, grandson and I working on it. We are teaching my grandson how to work on these old trucks. Actually I am learning a lot also working with them.

Last but not least my wife and I have been trying to get our stuff together to take a trip out to the West Coast later this week to see family and friends.

As usual I rambled some, huh?

Alchohol works great for taking out water. One pint to 10 gals outta do ya. Don't worry about adding too much it will burn out with the gas.
