Leveling?
So I just replaced the front lift springs on my '71 Jimmy with stock springs. Back has 4" blocks which I intended to remove...until I saw the vehicle stance as is. Nice, aggressive posture. On evenly worn out 33s, front roofline comes in at 6'3", rear roofline at 6'5". So do I really want the rear down at 6'1" or ideally at 6'3"? Is 2" of rear spring sag normal? Thinking of replacing the 4" blocks with 2" blocks. Thoughts on ideal relative height front vs rear?

Re: Leveling?
Ya got pictures.
A lot of guys run 1-2" of lift to compensate for the "saggy-butt" look. |
Re: Leveling?
I think it's really up to you how do you like your vehicle? Everyone has an opinion and lots are different do what makes you happy and what you like to look at. I did some things to my truck that I like and not to many do, like my stereo install. Sometimes I like to hear people's opinions and sometimes I just do it my way.

Re: Leveling?
use 3/4 ton rear coils in back. i will sell mine (eventually) when i upgrade to the HD option rear coils on my 72 suburban 3/4 ton. the springs fit. my dad had 3/4 ton springs on his 72 1/2 ton suburban and it sat like a hot rod (tail high) and ithe aux springs never engaged after the swap when he hitched up the trailer. my truck has 1" rake front to back, measured to the edge of the fender lip above the wheel. it looks level, but i want a bit more substantial rake and extra capacity for towing heavy trailers! oh....standard duty 3/4 ton rear springs were optional on 1/2 ton suburbans....a sort of trailering package setup....

Re: Leveling?
yeah....i have my moments.....
but now that i am on the right page....same idea applies.....use an add a leaf kit or preferably put in 3/4 ton spring packs. 4x4's definitely like to sit high in the front! |
