Re: slam that door..
air pocket, when all windows are up and the cab is sealed, the air has no where to go when u shut the door, window is down, lets air get through, i have had this prob with alot of my older cars

Re: slam that door..

Re: slam that door..
That happened on my back door but it was a toad in the doorjam. When I found him a week later he looked like the cover of a paperback book on toads.

Re: slam that door..
you could leave your floor vents open

Re: slam that door..
When shutting the door keep your hand on the handle until it clicks. On mine with the windows up I have to keep light pressure on it until it clicks or it wont shut. with windows up mine won't shut all the way if I swing it and let go of it before it clicks shut.
But when my windows are down it shuts super easy. |
Re: slam that door..
same with mine.how do you leave your floor vents open?

Re: slam that door..
Have you checked the equalizer ports in the doors? The louvers on the trailing edge of the door let air trapped in the cab escape thru the louvers in the inside door bottom. This port has a rubber "flapper valve" (one way air flow but keeps water out) on the inside of the door that will stick shut or just get hard with age and ozone.
Also, If you don't take the plastic block out of the doors, before you paint the doors, you can paint them shut or stiffen them to the point that the cab air cannot escape when you slam the door. If you have AC, the outside air inlet ports in the footwell, usually vacuum opperated, can stick shut, (the normal position) and this will make the cab close to air tight. I've seen it so bad, that when you slam the door, your ears pop. When I restored my old '67 VW bug, the new seals were so tight that I had to crack open the wing vent to get the door to latch without slamming. RED |
Re: slam that door..
There should be a black plastic vent in the door jamb. It's a little rectangular grille with a rubber flapper behind it. If it is blocked, painted shut, or otherwise stuck, it will cause this problem.
