Apache 10 Emblems

I always liked the font used for the "Apache" on the bottom part of those 1960 C-10 emblems, so I digitized the one I had hanging on the wall of my office. Anyway, I converted into a CAD file and had a buddy of mine run it on a CNC mill, cutting the coordinates out of left over pieces of 6061 T6 aluminum plate. I had him use a flat bit with the intention of painting the letter trenches. Here is what they look like fresh off of the mill. They are 12" long by 1" tall. I thought they might be nice as a glove box door, fender, hood or bedside emblem.

Beautiful work, Man. Painting is probably the way to go - but I wonder what would happen if they were anodized? Guess the color would depend on the alloy.

Mac. :chevy:

Re: Apache 10 Emblems

Thanks! Yeah, the font always reminded me of the influences the art deco period ('20s - '40s) had on the '50s era car emblems, with the trailing edge tail extensions, etc. I was thinking of anodizing a pair and painting the lettering. I had 4 pairs milled, so I was going to polish one set and anodize another to see which would look best against the white between the hip moldings on the bed side near the tail light edge.

Dino, if you want, let me know if you have a logo file I can use. If you have one, you can email it to Brian Wilson and I can work through him.

Those are very nice.......I think you may have started something.

IIRC there is a guy over on the '67-'72 forum making custom machined aluminum fender emblems......we need someone to make them for the '60-'66's ;)
